Sylvain Formo
Autism Instructor & Advocate
Sylvain is an Autism advocate & instructor, living with Autism. He provides specialized training to First Responders, Businesses and Organizations. His mission is to help support the needs of individuals, with Autism and support their needs by teaching others about the ‘World of Autism’. Resulting in bridging the communication gap between First Responders & Businesses and the Autism Community.
Sylvain’s experience around First Responders has driven him to create trainings that will provide experience, knowledge and tactics to aid first responders in emergency situations. Sylvain has grown up around different types of first responders, since an early age and hearing the stories of first responders: their struggles, their triumphs and tragedies. With such years of ‘behind the scenes’ experiences his special interest became studying and learning the skills and equipment these responders need to do their jobs safely and the service they provide to the public.
Sylvain has worked around youth and adults, with Autism for over 10 years. His experiences include training non-profit’s, educators and other coworkers about Autism and what strategies are needed to support those who have autism. Sylvain’s employment journey started in 2015 as the first autistic employee for Canuck Autism Network and 2019 working with the City of Surrey. After years of working for others, he has decided to take his years of experience and education and develop educational trainings that will help businesses retain, support and recruit their current and future employees, with Autism.
